SENIOR D-LEAGUE

West Sydney Wolves Basketball Association is committed to providing a quality competition for our youth and senior basketball players. WSW is focused on providing an environment that’s safe, educational, nurturing, and community friendly. Our competitions will be officiated and administered by dedicated and experienced staff with a focus on providing a memorable experience for everyone.

WSW 3X3 D-LEAGUE

There is a new game in town, 3X3, it is the number one urban team sport in the world. From the streets to the world stage, 3X3 is also the newest addition to the Olympic Games in 2020. It’s been heralded as the game for a new generation, with its fast-paced action, simple rules, and its flexibility to be played by everyone of all ages and abilities, makes 3 on 3 the hottest game around the world, right now. West Sydney Wolves is the first Basketball Association to have an official 3X3 League for juniors and seniors in Sydney.

WSW 3X3 D-LEAGUE GUIDELINES

The 3X3 rules have been designed to ensure fair play for all participants and closely align with Basketball Australia and FIBA competition rules. The height of the basket and size of the ball are both in accordance with the FIBA Basketball Guidelines. All players and coaches are expected to understand these rules prior to participating in 3 on 3 competition.

WSW 5X5 D-LEAGUE

The WSW D-League is the West Sydney Wolves official 5X5 competition for juniors and seniors. West Sydney Wolves is at the forefront of player and coaching development, and has implemented a modified & professional league format for all 5X5 competitions.

The modified format provides a platform to prepare and develop players, coaches, officials, and administration staff for representative basketball and elite competition. These changes, especially for our youth, will teach and develop players defensive skills, develop smarter players, teach sound offensive and defensive principles, improve on-court communication skills while ensuring everyone who plays at West Sydney Wolves has a positive experience.

5X5 D-LEAGUE GUIDELINES

The WSW 5X5 D-League’s modified format was developed to benefit the players and coaches. This new format means increased playing time for players, extra time-outs, extra time for coaches to develop their coaching skills, and increased fun for everyone involved.

Game Duration

4 x 12 Minute Quarters – 48 Minutes Total Game Time

1 Minute Quarter Time breaks

3 Minute Half Time break

Time Outs

1 x 1 Minute Timeout Per Half

2 x 30 second Timeout Per Half

Overtime

3 Minute Period

Shot Clock

All games will have a 24 second shot clock. This will introduce players to a representative game atmosphere and experience, develop and improve players court and time awareness, while stopping, stalling and keep-away tactics to win games.

RESTRICTION OF PLAYERS

Definition of a State/Representative player: Any player who has been selected in a representative basketball team for any Association. A player is deemed a representative player from the current year March to February the following year. [Winter & Summer season] . A representative development player is not deemed to be a representative player. However, if the status of a development player changes during the season, this matter will be referred to The WSWBA Committee.

Each Senior team is restricted to a 10-point system for players at a representative level.

A division one graded team may apply in writing to the WSWBA committee to replace a representative player with another representative player.

ALL PLAYERS MUST BE BNSW REGISTERED BEFORE COMMENCING COMPETITION.

What is BNSW registration for?

Each individual in a team must be registered with Basketball NSW. Basketball NSW registration lasts for 12 months and covers players against injury insurance. Players do not have to register for BNSW again to enrol in another WSW program within the covered year, your coverage begins from registration date. WHAT ARE THE COSTS IN PLAYING IN A COMPETITION?

  • Team Nomination $104 – paid by Team Manager upon team registration
  • Team Game Fees are payable in advance and prior to the commencement of competition. An invoice will be sent to the Team Manager to finalise the payment.

COMPETITION GAME FEES PER TEAM

  • 3 x 3 Game Fees (10weeks) = $650
  • 5 x 5 Game Fees (approx. 16 weeks) = $2,050

Where are games played?

PCYC Auburn Church street Lidcombe

When does competition start?

  • 3 x 3 competition coincide with the School term
  • 5 x 5 competition is held twice a year – approx. 16 weeks per season

Conditions of Participation

  • Players must be registered with WSWBA as a full or affiliate member and must provide photo ID when requested by staff. eg. Passport or Driver’s License.
  • All players must comply with the WSWBA By-Laws and Competition Rules.
  • Team grading is the sole responsibility of WSWBA.
  • WSWBA retains the right not to accept any nomination.
  • A player can only play for one team per division; however can play in more than one division and more than one night.
